As the weather gets warm it is a good time to remind everyone about our dress code. Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment where education is the focus.
Basic guidelines for appropriate school apparel include: All clothing must cover the traditionally private parts of the body including the mid-section. All shirts must have sleeves and cover all undergarments. All shorts/skirts must be at least fingertip length. Pants must be secure and not sagging to expose the undergarments or private areas. Hats are not allowed to be worn in the school building.
Clean out your closet for a good cause!
The 7th grade is working with an organization called ShoeBox Recycling to raise money to help children in Africa. We will be collecting gently used shoes during the weeks of April 27th and May 4th. Collection boxes will be located in social studies rooms in each grade level and also in the front office of the school. Please clear out your closets and bring shoes you’ve outgrown or just don’t wear anymore. We’ll accept both adult and childrens shoes--all sizes are welcome. Please make sure they are in good shape are clipped or tied together in pairs and have no holes. Also, flipflops, Crocs or plastic shoes are not accepted.
ShoeBox recycling will pay us $.50 per pound for all the shoes we collect. We’ll be sending the money we raise to support children in Ghana through the Foundation for African Children’s Education. The money will help them afford uniforms and fees to be able to go to school. If you would like to donate cash in addition or instead of shoes, we also welcome all cash donations or checks made out to Coal Ridge Middle School.
