December 4-10 is Computer Science Education Week, and St. Vrain Valley Schools will be celebrating in a variety of ways!
Students and teachers will explore computer science by programming robots, writing code, engaging in digital citizenship and literacy activities and learning about the role computers play in day-to-day life. They’ll also learn about different careers in this field through guest visits by professionals and see if this might be a career for them. Computer science underlies innovative practices and we are looking forward to exposing our students and community to this field during CSEd Week 2017. We invite you to follow CSEd week events throughout the district at our website.
Please remember, computer science goes far beyond coding. To learn more, check out the K12 CS Framework (go to: k12cs.org) which outlines skills and outcomes for computer science in K12 education.
We also invite you to consider sharing your expertise at our schools. If you work in a computer science field, and/or are interested in visiting a school or supporting a classroom during this week, please complete this short survey. We’ll be in touch soon.
Best regards,
