Track and Field Season Wrap-Up
This week, we celebrated the conclusion of our track and field season with two exhilarating meets. On Monday, all three grades showcased their athletic prowess, and on Thursday, our 7th and 8th graders competed in the middle school district meet. Our student athletes performed magnificently, and we could not be prouder of their dedication and sportsmanship. Here are some highlights from our top performers:

Upcoming Events
Please take note of the following important dates:
- No School on Monday, April 28th: Enjoy the long weekend! We’ll resume classes on Tuesday, refreshed and ready for a bustling week ahead.
- NJHS Induction Ceremony: Join us on Wednesday, April 30th, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm as we proudly induct new members into the National Junior Honor Society. It’s a momentous occasion to celebrate our students’ commitment to academic excellence and community service.
- Final Band Concert: Our final band concert of the year is scheduled for Thursday, May 1st. Our talented 6th graders will perform at 6:00 pm, followed by our 7th and 8th graders at 7:00 pm. We look forward to an evening filled with beautiful music and the culmination of a year’s hard work.
- 8th Grade Dance: On Friday, May 2nd, our 8th graders are invited to the 8th grade dance from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to celebrate their middle school journey and make lasting memories.
As we approach the end of the ’24-’25 school year, let’s continue to encourage our students to persevere and finish strong. Your support is invaluable in helping them achieve their goals.

Parent Corner: Reading for 20 Minutes
Encouraging your middle schooler to read for just 20 minutes a day can have a wonderful impact on their learning journey, especially in enhancing their reading comprehension skills. This short daily reading time exposes them to new vocabulary and engaging sentence structures, making it easier for them to understand and analyze texts. Not only will this practice improve their academic performance, but it will also help develop critical thinking skills that are vital across all subjects. Additionally, as they explore various stories or informative texts, they’ll cultivate a deeper appreciation for language and storytelling, fostering a lifelong love for reading. Your support in this daily habit can truly set the stage for their future success.,
Reading before bed not only offers academic benefits but also significantly improves sleep quality. Unlike screen time, which can interfere with sleep patterns due to blue light exposure, curling up with a physical book helps your brain wind down and shift into relaxation mode. This soothing activity can lower stress and anxiety levels, promoting a better night’s sleep.
For middle school students, a good night’s sleep is vital for enhanced cognitive function and emotional well-being. By establishing a bedtime reading routine, students can boost their comprehension skills while also enjoying a more restful night’s sleep. This simple habit can set them up for success in both their studies and daily lives. Happy reading!
8th Grade Dance
The 8th Grade Dance will take place on Friday, May 2, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This event is exclusively for 8th grade students at Coal Ridge Middle School. Students from other grades or schools will not be permitted to attend. Tickets for the dance cost $5 and can be purchased in advance in Ms. Zaruba’s room from Wednesday to Friday, or at the door on the night of the dance.
Dine to Donate at Texas Roadhouse
On Monday, April 28th, and Thursday, May 1st, dine at Texas Roadhouse and mention Coal Ridge, and 10% will go to the Student Council.
Buy a Yearbook!
Have you ordered a 24-25 CRMS Yearbook for your student yet? We have ordered a limited number of extra yearbooks for late purchases. Act fast – they are being sold on a first come, first serve basis.
Project Launch Middle School
Coal Ridge Middle School will host Project Launch Middle School from June 2 to June 26, from 7:45 pm. to 1:45 PM. This free program is designed to support students who need additional help in reading, writing, and math.
Lunch Menu
The monthly Lunch Menu is available at LINQCONNECT. This online system allows you to filter for allergens and view the Breakfast Menu. In the upper left-hand corner, you can change between breakfast and lunch.
