Principal Update
Dear Coal Ridge Family,
I hope this message finds you well and thriving as we move forward into another exciting week at Coal Ridge Middle School. As always, we are grateful for your continued support and dedication to our school community. We have several important announcements and updates to share with you.
Wrestling Practice Begins Next Week
We are thrilled to announce that wrestling practice will kick off next week! This is a great opportunity for our students to engage in physical activity, learn new skills, and foster a sense of teamwork and discipline. We encourage all interested students to participate and show their Coal Ridge spirit.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Mark your calendars! Our parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for January 30 and February 4. These meetings are vital for maintaining open communication between our dedicated educators and the supportive families of our students. We look forward to discussing your child’s progress and how we can continue to support their academic journey.
Honor Roll Certificates
Congratulations to all our students who have worked diligently throughout the second quarter! Honor Roll certificates will be distributed on Monday. Your hard work and commitment to academic excellence do not go unnoticed, and we are immensely proud of each student’s achievements.
Building Our School Community
At Coal Ridge, we believe that a strong school community is built on the pillars of kindness, empathy, and collaboration. Every student and staff member contributes to this community spirit, and we encourage everyone to continue practicing kindness both inside and outside the classroom.
Celebrating Hard Academic Work
Our students have been working incredibly hard this quarter, showing resilience and dedication in all their academic endeavors. Let’s continue to support them in their journey by nurturing a positive and encouraging learning environment. Together, we can achieve great things!
Thank you for your unwavering support and for being an integral part of our Coal Ridge family. We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events and continuing to build a nurturing and inclusive community for all.
Warm regards,
Natalee Swan, Principal
Parent Corner: Valuable Items
Bringing valuable items and money to school can create some risks for students. Schools are lively places where belongings can sometimes get misplaced or lost. By keeping valuable items at home, parents can help their children feel more relaxed and avoid any worries about losing things. This allows students to focus on learning and their coursework.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday, January 30, and Tuesday, February 4, from 3:00 pm. to 7:00 PM. These optional meetings are suggested for parents who have concerns about their child’s academic progress.
Wrestling Sign Up
We are excited to begin Wrestling Season starting on Monday, January 27th! We will have a parent meeting after practice Tuesday, January 28th at 4:15 PM (sorry for the change in dates, I need to have final registration numbers to the district earlier than I thought), where we will go over athlete expectations, how to register, and the schedule. Practice will be Monday-Friday after school 3:00-4:30 PM. Students must have a ride home from practice, there are no buses that can take them home. Please reach out to Coach Ridgway ([email protected]) if you have any questions!
EPIC At Home Reading Challenge
We are starting our EPIC At-Home Reading Challenge. Students are encouraged to read at home for at least 20 minutes, five days a week, totaling 100 minutes, to participate in a weekly book drawing. To enter, students must complete their reading log and have a parent sign it. On Fridays, students will exchange their logs with their advisory teacher. Each completed log is entered into a raffle, with one winner per grade announced on Monday. Winners can then choose a free book as their prize.
Hearing & Vision Screening Day
There will be a vision and hearing team at Coal Ridge Middle School on Thursday, January 30th to screen all 7th graders and students new to the district students. Please encourage your child to wear their glasses/contact lenses to school that day. If the screening indicates your student needs further evaluation, you will be notified by mail. Please consult your school’s health clerk, Debbie Mills, at [email protected] if you have questions or concerns.
Yearbook Pictures
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Yearbook Staff 2024-2025 is looking forward to another amazing year! We are hoping that you can help us get some out-of-school sports photos. There are endless opportunities for yearbook photos, and we want to make sure that we can get as many students as possible and their sports represented. If you have photos, please send them to [email protected].
Thank you,
The Yearbook Staff
