Coal Ridge Middle School Weekly Bulletin

6th grade math students in Ms. Nistler’s class work together to solve increasingly hard order of operations problems on the whiteboards.

Principal Update

Dear Coal Ridge Families,

We have officially wrapped up the first quarter, and we celebrated today with a fun school-wide assembly! The highlight of the event was our very own Masked Singer competition, featuring four of our talented teachers. It was an exciting way to end the quarter on a high note!

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and perseverance shown by all of our students as they worked diligently to finish the quarter strong. Their dedication continues to impress us every day.

No School on Monday
Just a quick reminder that there will be no school this coming Monday. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, when we will take the opportunity to reset and reinforce both our school and district expectations. We’ll focus on our Big 3 principles and reiterate the importance of respect and kindness, especially by ensuring that derogatory language is never tolerated within our community.

Lunchroom Updates
Over the past few weeks, we’ve received valuable feedback from many families about our lunchroom procedures, specifically regarding the time it takes to get students through the line and fed. In response, we implemented a new procedure last week, and we will continue to monitor and adjust this process over the next week before reevaluating. Our ultimate goal is to ensure every student has sufficient time to eat and a chance to enjoy some fresh air outside.

As always, we appreciate your feedback and suggestions as we continue to improve our school-wide systems. Thank you for sending us such amazing students; it is truly a joy to spend my days with them!

Have a wonderful weekend, and we’ll see you back on Tuesday!

Warm regards,

Natalee Swan, Principal

No school on Friday, Oct. 11, and Monday, Oct. 14. Please enjoy the 4-day weekend with your children.

Parent Corner: Power of Family Time

As our children age, it is easy to think that they don’t need us as much as they did when they were young. However, adolescents need quality time with their parents more than ever. As you think about the 4-day weekend, consider ways to build in meaningful, device-free time to connect and share space together. Simple activities like having dinner together, going for a walk, playing a game, or simply talking can have a profound impact. Often, our kids do not need a grand gesture; they simply need our undivided attention. These shared experiences foster a sense of belonging, trust, and support, setting the foundation for a strong and loving family unit.
