Heads up, Coal Ridge! 🎉
There’s no school on Friday, February 13, or Monday, February 16 — time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the long weekend!

Coal Ridge Middle School is excited to kick off this year’s Kids Heart Challenge! ❤️

With help from this year’s Heart Heroes, students are learning how to keep their hearts healthy through movement, kindness, rest, and knowing when to ask for help.

Join the fun by visiting HEART.ORG/SCHOOLS or downloading the AHA Schools app. Bonus: students receive a free wristband just for signing up!

Yearbook Ordering Deadline Approaching

FEBRUARY 20th is the last chance to order a book and guarantee your child has one when they are delivered. After this date, we will only order a few extra books that will be sold while supplies last.

Visit jostensyearbooks.com to reserve your copy. If you have already purchased a book, thank you!

Our 8th graders in Mrs. Sturgeon and Mr. McDonald’s classes are hard at work in their Car & Ramp labs, exploring Newton’s Three Laws of Motion! Through hands-on investigations, students are testing how force, speed, distance, and mass all work together to affect motion. It’s been awesome to watch them collect data, make predictions, and see physics come to life right in the classroom.

Students engage in hands-on science activities in a classroom, using tablets and materials for experiments.

This is a reminder that energy drinks (such as Alani, Monster, Celsius, and similar beverages) are not allowed at school. These drinks contain very high levels of caffeine and stimulants that can increase heart rate, cause anxiety and headaches, and make it difficult for students to focus and learn. They can also lead to dehydration and sleep problems, which greatly affect school performance and behavior. Please help us by ensuring your student does not bring energy drinks to school and instead chooses water or other healthier options.

Pic of the Week

A group of children playing a game outside on a sunny day, with mountains in the background and a grassy field.

Our 7th graders have been absolutely dominating at gaga ball — a fan-favorite game our students love to play on late start days! It’s always a highlight watching the friendly competition and school spirit come alive in the pit.

Clothing Donations needed

Illustration of various clothing items: a yellow hoodie, red tank top, blue jeans, a red shirt, and a pink shirt with a collar.

We are currently accepting clothing donations to support our middle school students, with a specific need for girls’ leggings, sweatpants, joggers, and other comfortable bottoms in middle school sizes. These items are often needed during the school day for a variety of reasons, and having extras on hand helps ensure students feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. New or gently used items in clean, good condition are greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping care for our students and supporting our school community!

Meet the CRMS Staff: Red Hawk of the week

Each week, we’ll shine the spotlight on a member of our amazing staff, giving our families a chance to learn more about the people who make our school special.

Meet Mr. David Marquez

He takes great pride in his work and is always on the move, keeping our school running smoothly. Outside of school, David enjoys spending time with his kids and grandkids and working on projects around his house. He also shares his passion for athletics by coaching soccer here at CRMS. We are so lucky to have him as part of our community!
