Principal’s Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are now in the home stretch of the second quarter. Teachers will be finalizing grades in the next week, and the 2nd quarter grades will be posted on January 10, 2024. We will announce our Honor Roll Celebration shortly after we return to school.
Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the many music performances in the last few weeks. We are very proud of our student musicians and the progress they have made. Additionally, we collected over 1,100 cans of food in our canned food drive. Again, we are so proud of our students and the contributions they make to our community.
Thank you for your continued support as we close the first semester. Please reach out if you have any questions or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Liza

Your child(ren) may be on the list to be screened. Please encourage them to bring/wear their glasses to school on this day. If our screening indicates that your student needs further evaluation, you will be notified by mail. Please contact your health clerk if you have questions or concerns.
Student Poetry
This week in advisory, the students were asked to write poems about winter. We will highlight a few poems in our weekly bulletin up to winter break.
Cold, icy nights,
Houses filled with bright lights.
Rosy cheeks from snow fights.
Icicles hang like sparkly chandeliers.
Snow is everywhere; what cheer!
Tinsel wrapped around the tree.
Maybe Santa will visit me!
All the children are excited!
Santa is coming; be sure to sleep!

The Winter Chill
By Norah Cote
The frosted window panes wreathed in snow,
The bitter freeze of the back of the calendar in full effect,
The lights on the trees, jolly colors laughing aglow,
The lack of Christmas decor on the houses a comical disrespect.
Glazed turkey and ham weighing the table,
Cookie batter spattering the sides of halls,
Butternut squash resting with a ladle,
Constructing houses of confectionary walls.
A forbidding icy breeze blows against my face,
As the snow gently falls on the cold pavement,
I look up at the sparkling stars, knowing nothing could ever replace,
This winter feeling that I love for it’s no misstatement.
