Principal’s Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope that you enjoyed time with family and loved ones over the holidays. We are excited to have students back and the third quarter is off to a great start.
One benefit of a quarter system is that there is a fresh start at the beginning of each grading term. This is a great opportunity for you to remind your son/daughter that it is much easier to stay on top of assignments rather than attempting to catch up.
Please coach your child to utilize the paper planner and build time into your family routine to have conversations about prioritizing and organizing tasks. Additionally, encourage your child to be actively engaged during class and to utilize the guided work time that teachers provide. Students who are productive and engaged during the school day rarely have much homework.
Finally, mark the calendars for parent teacher conferences on February 1st and 6th. Sign ups for conferences will come out in just a few weeks. If you would like to set up a meeting earlier, please call the office. We can meet with core teams or the counseling teams as needed.
We are looking forward to the second half of the year and want to be sure that all of our students and their families feel supported and successful.
Sincerely,
Liza
There will be no school on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Hearing and Vision Screening
There will be a vision and hearing screening at Coal Ridge Middle School on January 29, 2024, for all 7th grade students and students new to the school district. Your child(ren) may be on the list to be screened. Please encourage them to bring/wear their glasses to school on this day. If our screening indicates that your student needs further evaluation, you will be notified by mail. Please contact your health clerk if you have questions or concerns.
8th Grade High School Registration
Counselors from Mead High School and Frederick High School will be meeting with Coal Ridge 8th-grade students on Friday, January 19th during their elective periods. The purpose of the meeting is to explain the registration process for high school and help students start the process.
