Principal’s Update

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Welcome to the new school year! As the new principal, I am thrilled to be joining this wonderful community and to be a part of your child’s educational journey. Our dedicated team of educators and staff is excited to welcome our students back to school and to work together to make this year a successful and enriching experience for everyone.

At our middle school, we believe in the power of clear expectations and consistent effort. That’s why we emphasize our Coal Ridge Big 3 principles:

1. Every Class, Every Day, On Time: We believe that being present and punctual is the first step to success. Each class is a valuable opportunity to learn, grow, and connect. We ask all students to commit to attending every class, every day, on time.

2. Turn in Every Assignment: Completing and turning in assignments is crucial for academic success. It helps students stay on track and reinforces the skills they’re developing. We encourage students to take responsibility for their work and to seek help when needed – we’re here to support them every step of the way.

3. Be Kind, Even When It’s Hard: Middle school is a time of growth and change, and we want our students to navigate it with empathy and kindness. We foster an environment where everyone feels valued and safe, and we ask all students to practice kindness in their interactions with others, even when faced with challenges.

Our commitment to every student’s success extends beyond academics. We strongly believe in the importance of preparing our students for high school and beyond. Middle school is a critical time for building the skills and habits that will serve them well in the future. We encourage all students to get involved in extracurricular activities, as these provide opportunities for personal growth, leadership, and building lifelong friendships. School Spirit and Pride are important to us, and to that end, we encourage students to show their spirit by wearing our school colors and school shirts on Fridays.

Open communication is key to a successful school experience. Our doors are always open to you-whether you have questions, concerns, or ideas, we want to hear from you. We believe that all students can succeed, and with your partnership, we are confident that we can provide a supportive and nurturing environment for every child.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student feels welcome, respected, and safe. We believe that when students feel safe and supported, they are better able to focus on learning and reaching their full potential.

As we embark on this new school year, I want to express how excited we are to work with you and your child. Together, we can make this year a remarkable one, filled with learning, growth, and positive experiences.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. Let’s make this year our best one yet!

Warm regards,

Natalee Swan

iPad Upgrade!

We are excited that the students will turn in their current iPads to exchange them for the 10th generation iPad. We hope to exchange most of the 7th and 8th-grade students’ iPads before school starts. Sixth-grade students will exchange their iPads at Step Up to Middle School and on the first day of school.

Sixth-grade students will exchange their iPads on Monday, August 5, during Step-Up to Middle School if they have signed up or on the first day of school on Tuesday, August 13.

Seventh and 8th-grade students are invited to come to school on Wednesday, August 7, and Thursday, August 8, from 1:00-3:00 pm.

Before exchanging the iPad, please take a moment to work with your child to ensure that all of their work is backed up. Here are instructions on how to back up the iPad.

New iPads need new headphones

The 10th-generation iPad’s headphone connection is changing. Please read through to make sure that your child’s headphones will still work with the new devices.

Don’t get caught owing $456 for your child’s iPad

Sign up for iPad insurance today! It is $25 for the whole year, but you can pay any amount of that $25 now to begin the insurance. You can learn more about the St. Vrain Valley iPad Insurance here.
