We had an excellent first week of school. On Tuesday, we welcomed our new 6th-grade students to Coal Ridge with a day of fun activities to get to know each other and familiarize themselves with the school.
Principal’s Update
Dear Coal Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to share that we’ve had a fantastic first week of school! Our students are quickly settling in and learning our school-wide expectations. It’s been wonderful to see them actively practicing our Big 3 and following our SPARK expectations with enthusiasm.
This week, we held grade-level assemblies where the administration spoke to the students about what it means to be a Championship Team at Coal Ridge. We encourage you to ask your student about this discussion—it’s a great way to reinforce the positive values we’re instilling at school.
Students have also started receiving bright green tickets when they meet our school-wide expectations. These tickets can be turned in for prizes at our school store, which will be open on Fridays during lunchtime starting the Friday after Labor Day.
Of course, academics are in full swing! This week, I had the pleasure of seeing students conducting experiments in science, constructing the Vex Field in robotics, singing scales in choir, and already diving into writing tasks in language arts. The level of engagement and enthusiasm is truly inspiring.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Night next week. It will be a great opportunity to connect and share more about the exciting year ahead. See below for more details about this event.
Thank you for sending us such amazing young adults. As always, please feel free to reach out to me if there is anything we can do to strengthen our partnership.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Warm regards,
Natalee Swan
Principal, Coal Ridge Middle School

- Everyone else will stay in their advisory class and work on goal setting, completing work, or reading a book.
Picture Day – Tuesday, Aug. 20
We will have picture day on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The students will be asked to take one picture with their hats off. We are using a new photography company this year, VanGogh. After picture day on Tuesday, the company will email you a proof of the picture. You can then select the background you prefer and order the picture from their website. Your photos will be shipped directly to your home.
