Parent Corner: Understanding Your Child’s Grade
Your child’s grade is divided into two categories: Learning Activities and Assessments. Learning Activities are worth 30% of your child’s grade and consist of tasks and assignments given in class or for homework. Assessments make up 70% of your child’s grade and consist of tests, quizzes, projects, and writing assignments that measure your child’s progress toward mastery of the standards.
Our goal for our students is that they achieve at least 80% on their assessments, as we consider 80% to be proficient. To this end, we allow students to retake assessments after completing the designated relearning activity. If you notice that your child scored less than desired on any assessment, please encourage them to talk to their teacher and come up with a plan to retake the assessment.
Parent Teacher Conferences
We will be hosting three nights of parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday, Sept. 25, Thursday, Sept. 26, and Tuesday, Oct. 1. These conferences are not required and are suggested for parents who are concerned about their child’s academic performance. Please use the link below to sign up for conferences.
We will be using Meet the Teacher to sign up for conferences. You will need to use your email address in Infinite Campus and have your child’s student number available. Please call or email Traci Banker with questions ([email protected] or 303-833-4176).
