Congratulations to our fantastic orchestra students for their lovely concert on Thursday evening!
Principal Update
Hello Coal Ridge Families,
We are in the homestretch for the second quarter! As we approach the end of this grading period, please encourage your students to stay on top of their assignments and turn in any missing work. Your support makes a big difference!
Today, our students participated in the winter i-Ready testing for both math and reading. We are incredibly proud of their exceptional growth and progress. Their dedication and hard work throughout the entire day truly stands out, and we celebrate their continued commitment to excellence.
We’ve noticed an increase in students coming to school without properly charged iPads. To help your student be prepared and ready to learn, we recommend creating a daily routine for them to charge their iPad overnight in a central location. This small habit ensures they are set up for success each day.
Important Dates:
- Last Day of the Quarter/Winter Break Begins: Thursday, December 19th
- Talent Show: Morning of December 19th
- Fun School-Wide Activities: Afternoon of December 19th
Our staff is excitedly planning some engaging activities to celebrate the end of the quarter before Winter Break. It’s always a joy to work with your incredible students, and we look forward to ending the year on a positive and fun note.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or positive feedback to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!Warm regards,
Natalee Swan, Principal
Parent Corner: Staying Organized
As we approach the end of the grading period, some of our kids need help keeping all of their assignments organized so they can complete their work on time. As parents, you can help your child create systems and strategies to help them manage the end-of-quarter workload. Here are some practical tips to help your child stay organized and focused:
- Create a Visual Schedule: Encourage your child to use a planner or wall calendar to note important deadlines. We gave our students planners at the start of the school year. Teachers are prompting students to write down their assignments. Please check with your child to make sure they are using this tool.
- Set Priorities: Teach your child to categorize assignments by importance and due date. Encourage them to tackle urgent and high-impact tasks first.
- Break Tasks into Smaller Steps: Help your child break larger assignments into manageable parts. This can make tasks feel less overwhelming and more achievable.
- Establish a Routine: Consistency is key. Set a specific time and place for homework to create a focused work environment.
- Limit Distractions: Encourage a distraction-free zone by turning off non-essential electronics during study time.
- Regular Check-ins: Have brief daily or weekly check-ins to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
By implementing these strategies, you can help your child develop effective time management skills and reduce stress as they balance multiple assignments. Supporting your child in establishing these habits not only aids their current academic performance but also fosters lifelong skills in organization and prioritization.
Lost & Found
Our lost and found is full. Please encourage your child to check the lost and found for any missing items. We will donate any items left as we go into winter break in December.
Activity Bus
The activity bus is exclusively for students attending after-school clubs. It is not available for those participating in after-school sports or games.
If your child plans to stay after school to watch a game or participate in an intramural sport, please ensure you pick them up promptly when the event ends.
Winter Clothing Drive
Coal Ridge Middle School is collecting warm clothing items to be donated. Students can bring the items into their advisory class.
Gift Ideas?
Looking for a holiday gift idea this season? Consider getting your child a Logitech Crayon. These are not required for school but many students find them helpful when working with the iPads. The newer versions charge with the same charger as the iPad.
Free and Reduced Fees
Families needing financial help reducing or eliminating class fees are encouraged to complete the Free & Reduced Fees Application. This benefits your family and supports our school in terms of funding, staffing, and reduced fees for activities. Remember to renew this application annually for access to various benefits.
Apply for free & reduced fees today to take advantage of these opportunities!
Lunch Menu
The monthly Lunch Menu is available at LINQCONNECT. This online system allows you to filter for allergens and view the Breakfast Menu. In the upper left-hand corner, you can change between breakfast and lunch.
