Teachers are back in the building and we are getting excited for the start of the school year next week.
Principal’s Update
Dear Coal Ridge Families,
I hope this message finds you well and that you’ve had a wonderful summer break filled with relaxation, adventure, and special moments with loved ones. As the new school year quickly approaches, I want to take a moment to express how excited we are to welcome your students back to school!
Over the past week, our dedicated staff has been working tirelessly to prepare for an amazing start to the school year. Classrooms have been arranged, lesson plans crafted, and activities planned—all with the goal of ensuring a smooth and successful transition back to school. We are eager to see our students’ smiling faces, hear their stories from summer, and get back to the important work of learning and growing together.
As we prepare for the first day of school, I encourage you to begin transitioning your students back into their school routines. This means gradually reintroducing earlier bedtimes, limiting screen time in the evenings, and starting to talk with them about the excitement and expectations of the new school year. These small steps can make a big difference in helping students feel ready and confident for their return to school.
At Coal Ridge, we are guided by our Big 3 principles:
- Every class, every day, on time. We believe in the importance of attendance and punctuality. Being present and on time sets the tone for learning and shows respect for the entire school community.
- Turn in every assignment. Completing and submitting assignments on time is crucial for academic success. We are here to support your students in staying organized and on track.
- Be Kind, even when it’s hard. Kindness is the foundation of our school culture. We encourage our students to treat others with respect and compassion, especially in challenging situations.
We love and care about each of our students, and we are committed to helping them succeed. If there is anything we can do to support your student’s journey this year, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We believe in a strong partnership between home and school, and we are here to work together with you to ensure your student’s success.
Thank you for entrusting us with your student’s education. We can’t wait to see them back in the halls of Coal Ridge next week! Please look through the rest of this bulletin as it is chock full of good information.
Warm regards,
Natalee Swan
Principal, Coal Ridge
Student Schedules
Starting today at 4:00 pm, students can access their schedules on Infinite Campus. Please note that schedules may change as we work to balance classes. If there is a clearly missing class or a mistake in the schedule, please encourage your child to contact their counselor to correct the problem. We encourage middle school students to try all classes as this is the time to explore and discover new interests.
iPad Upgrade!
We enjoyed getting to see our 7th and 8th grade students on Wednesday and Thursday this week to exchange their iPads for the 10th generation. If your child was not able to come in this week to upgrade their iPad, we will work with them during school to get their iPad upgraded by the end of next week.
Sixth-grade students who did not upgrade their iPads while at Step Up will be able to get them on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 13.
Before exchanging the iPad, please take a moment to work with your child to ensure that all of their work is backed up. Here are instructions on how to back up the iPad.
Don’t get caught owing $456 for your child’s iPad
Sign up for iPad insurance today! It is $25 for the whole year, but you can pay any amount of that $25 now to begin the insurance. You can learn more about the St. Vrain Valley iPad Insurance here.
New iPads Need New Headphones
The 10th-generation iPad’s headphone connection is changing. Please read through to make sure that your child’s headphones will still work with the new devices.
- USB-C Headphones: Look for headphones that specifically mention “USB-C” in the description. Here is a link to the Apple website with an example.
- 3.5mm Headphones with an Adapter: If you have already invested in headphones with a 3.5mm jack, they can still be used with an adapter (here is a link to the Apple website with an example).
