Principal Update
Welcome to the Second Quarter!
We are officially starting the second quarter of the school year, and I want to take a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come together. Students are getting settled into their routines, and it’s been incredible to see their growth and engagement. As we dive into this new quarter, please encourage your students to set new goals and continue striving for success. We are here to support them every step of the way!
A Huge Thank You to Our Incredible Parents and Families
A heartfelt thank you to all of the parents who contributed to our “Great Outdoors” themed auction items for the St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation Gala Dinner. Your generosity helps support our school and provides valuable resources that enhance the educational experience for all of our students. We are incredibly grateful for your involvement and support of our Coal Ridge community!
Our Amazing Teachers
I also want to take a moment to recognize our dedicated and hardworking teachers. They go above and beyond each day to provide an engaging and supportive learning environment for our students. Their commitment to our students’ success is truly inspiring, and we are so lucky to have such a strong team here at Coal Ridge.
Thank You for Sending Us Such Wonderful Students
We are fortunate to work with amazing students every day! Thank you for sending them to us and for your continued partnership. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Working together is key to helping our students thrive, and we are excited to continue this journey with you.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Parent Corner: Advocating for Self
This year we have been talking about Coal Ridge Middle School SPARK behavior with our students regularly. The A in SPARK represents advocating for self and others. Advocating for oneself is an important skill that helps our kids feel empowered and confident. Here are a few ways you can help your child learn self-advocacy skills:
Model advocacy: Our students learn from our examples. Be conscientious, showing your child how to advocate for themselves by expressing your needs and concerns respectfully and assertively. This modeling will help them learn valuable communication skills and understand the importance of self-advocacy.
Teach problem-solving skills: When your child comes to you with a problem or dilemma, take the time to discuss various approaches to solving it. Often, children don’t need us to find solutions for them; instead, they can benefit from helping them think through the situation and exploring possible resolutions. Encourage them to seek assistance from their teacher or another trusted adult if needed.
Role-play scenarios: Practice various scenarios where your child may need to advocate for themselves, such as seeking extra help, expressing concerns about bullying, or requesting accommodations. This will prepare them to feel more confident in real-life situations.
6th Grade Dance
The 6th Grade Dance will be held on Friday, October 25, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This event is open to all 6th-grade students at Coal Ridge Middle School. Attendance is free, and any student in the 6th grade who is at school that day is welcome to join.
There will be free games, face painting, a photo booth, and concessions will be sold during the dance. Please ensure that your child is picked up promptly at 4:00 PM when the dance ends.
