Principal’s Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are now in the last two weeks of the second quarter.  Many teachers have been working through lunches and after school to ensure all students end the quarter successfully.  Now is the time to check Infinite Campus and have conversations with your son/daughter about ending the quarter with strong academic habits.

Some highlights this week included our winter band concert.  Next Wednesday the choir will be performing here at CRMS.  Please join us if you are able.  There is, of course, no cost for admission.

Our advisory contest and canned food drive will wrap up also on Wednesday, December 13th.  All non perishable items will be donated to the Pantry of Hope on the 15th.

Thank you for your support in improving our traffic flow.  The slower speeds in the school area and pulling as far ahead as possible in the pick up lane is appreciated and makes the morning and afternoon routines much more pleasant for everyone.

As always, reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Liza

Hearing and Vision Screening

There will be a vision and hearing screening at Coal Ridge Middle School on January 29, 2024, for all 7th grade students and students new to the school district. Your child(ren) may be on the list to be screened. Please encourage them to bring/wear their glasses to school on this day. If our screening indicates that your student needs further evaluation, you will be notified by mail. Please contact your health clerk if you have questions or concerns.

Canned Food Drive

Coal Ridge Middle School will host a canned food drive from November 27 through December 13. Our school goal is to bring in at least 5,000 canned food items. That would be about 7 items per person. Please have students bring their canned food items to their Advisory teacher.

We are looking for non-perishable food items: canned, dried, and cereals.

Student Poetry

This week in advisory, the students were asked to write poems about winter. We will be highlighting a few of the poems in our weekly bulletin up to winter break.

Snow

By: Lucy Noyes

Falling gently from the sky,
A beautiful sight comes to eye
A white jewel of beauty
Dances and twirls
The white jewels are never alike
But when they come to sight
They say hush to the world
As if to say goodnight

(Chorus)
Snow, snow, jewel of white
A beautiful sight
Comes to say good night
We can play
Another day

The chill in the air
Is a frightening thing
As the jewels blanket the ground
Saying come, come and play
I’m not gonna be around all day
Children come in scarves and hoods
Building snowmen with glee

(Chorus)
Snow, snow, jewel of white
A beautiful sight
Comes to say good night
We can play
Another day

As the day wears on
The snow sings a song
Go to sleep now, little ones
Until tomorrow comes
And they go to sleep that day
Until tomorrow comes again

(Chorus)
Snow, snow, jewel of white
A beautiful sight
Comes to say good night
We can play
Another day
