Coal Ridge Middle School Weekly Bulletin

Sixth grade social studies students went on a scavenger hunt around the school. They had to find specific items and write their numbers using the base 20 Mayan number system.

Principal’s Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe we are already halfway through the quarter. This year, we have been focused on building executive functioning skills. Executive functioning skills are the skills that help students organize their work, start tasks, and prioritize the most important or timely tasks first. To help with this, we have given each student a daily planner to build habits around organizing their work and time. Every day in class, the teachers are prompting students to write down their homework for the night. Please take time this weekend to check your child’s planner and work with them to develop habits around using the planner.

Next week, we also have our next PTO meeting. The meeting will be on Thursday, February 22 from 5:30-6:30 pm. All are welcome to join! We will be planning our upcoming teacher appreciation celebration that will happen in May.

The school will be closed on Friday, February 16, and Monday, February 19.

7th Grade Dance on Friday, February 23

The 7th-grade dance will take place on Friday, February 23, from 3:00-4:00 pm in the Commons. We kindly request that parents arrange for prompt pickup of their children at 4:00 pm. The dance is exclusively for 7th-grade students at Coal Ridge Middle School. Students from other grades or schools will not be allowed to attend. There is no fee for the dance, but concessions will be available for purchase during the event.

Although there is no dress code, some students prefer to dress up for the dance. We recommend that students wear what they feel comfortable in for the dance and to school that day, as there will be no time to change clothes before the event. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our front office at 303-833-4176.
